War is coming. With the reappearance of the Tuatha De, the countryside is thrown into chaos. Entire villages have been obliterated. Magic users are suffering persecution along with the Faie, leaving droves of refugees to wait outside the gates of the great cities, hoping for the acceptance that will never come.
After a brief reunion with her companions, Finn is stolen away during the night by an unseen foe. Lost and alone, she must put her trust in a stranger if she hopes to reach Migris alive. Yet, nothing is as it seems, and those she trusts most, may very well be the ones to betray her.

So, disclaimer, I'm madly in love with this series. This was even better than book one! The funny thing is, there's a lot going on that I don't usually like; the continuously shifting and expanding POV, for example. But the author does it in a way that's seamless and natural and feels right for this series. There's also repetition in the plot on a grand scale (every time things start to settle down or heat up (romantically), something bad happens to throw our heroes back into the fray). But the story and characters are so fun and interesting that it never bothers me. And I don't mind the abundance of 'travel' and all the hangups the crew faces along the way, either. I don't know why-- but I don't! Perhaps the biggest 'cliche' this series gets right where so many others fail hard, is the ever-popular love triangle. Without saying too much, I'll just let it be known that I bow down to Sara C Roethle's ability to turn my affections for characters over and over so effortlessly. I really don't know how she does it, but the women does it well! Be still my heart with her cliffhangers, too. If you couldn't tell already, I'm her newest fangirl. =PProduct details

The Melted Sea The Tree of Ages Series Book 2 eBook Sara C Roethle Reviews
This series starts out fun and interesting. It falters in book 2 but I continued to read the book in hopes that something interesting would happen. The book is kind of harlequin romance mixed w magic. Nothing bad happens to the main characters and there is very little character development. If u can’t find anything else to read. ...
In the series so far, the character development has been good. The characters seem to be true to their developed selves. The plot is pretty straight forward. There is a quest, there are smaller quests to keep the story interesting, and we get closer to accomplishing the quest. Writing is well done, if there are errors they are not very obvious which is nice.
I loved the Melted Sea. It's as good as the first book. It definitely answers a few questions, but then it raises even more. Now I am dying for book 3!
I hate cliffhangers.... this book suck me in and I kept reading and keep reading keep reading and then it ended with one of the main characters being turned into a tree and nobody knows.....
I hate cliffhangers
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. So far I have read The Tree of Ages; The Melted Sea; and The Blood Forest. All excellent. Ms. Roethle has a unique ability of providing the reader with awesome imagery. Her detail to the events that you are reading about and the surrounding scenery as the characters move forward on their journey is very detailed and easy to visualize. I highly recommend those who love to read fantasy with magic should definitely read this series.
Good story but THE WORST narrator of any audiobook I have ever experienced. She rushes through the book and her inflection/cadence are that of a news reporter with a very obvious midwestern accent. Terrible character voice acting with inconsistent accents. I thought the narrator of the first book was just plain boring, but this one is painful to my ears. I have had to rewind several times, as I often zone out even in the midst of an action scene. Not sure if I can finish this in audio format. Wondering how this passed production at all. Biggest waste of $7 for audio yet.
Amazing continuation of the first book! I think I liked it even better than book 1. This book grows leaps and bounds in character development, plot twists, and uncertain loyalties. The story becomes a lot more intense and exciting and what you think you know or expect from the characters is totally ripped away. I read this book and the first one a few months ago, so I was incredibly disappointed to not be able to finish the story. I am looking forward to picking up the third book in a few days.
